The apparent grand finale of the LPGA Tour was one event that everyone had set her eyes on and with the increasingly close race to winning the Rolex Player of the Year award becoming the most fascinating happening on the tour next week is going to witness some high quality golf in a very competitive environment. All great golfers who are active on the LPGA tour would be descending on the state of Texas to become a part of the concluding event of the tour, the LPGA Tour Championship and try to win for herself the title of a champion. For two of these woman golfers, Lorena Ochoa and Jiyai Shin, who in fact are among the very best of them the event is going to be all the more important because for them a lot more would be at stake. With the announcement of the final list of the players who will be taking part in the LPGA Tour Championship the excitement of the players as well as their fans has risen further and everyone is eagerly waiting for the championship to tee off.
The list has been finalized based on the standings of players on the LPGA Official Money List as it was on the 9th November, 2009. The list is a representation of how any woman golfer has performed throughout the year and is a true representative of the relative success of the players. The list quite deservingly is led by Jiyai Shin, the South Korean sensation who even though in her debut year is in the race for the Rolex Player of the Year award after having already won the Rolex Rookie of the Year award. With earnings of more than $1.7 million she tops the list and would be looking forward to adding more to her money bag with the last tour event of the year.
The list also includes Mexican Lorena Ochoa who is placed fifth on the money list and would be taking part in the LPGA Tour Championship after visiting Guadalajara to take part in the tournament that goes by her name, the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. These two players would be competing in the field of best golfers which will include players like Ai Miyazato from Japan and Cristie Kerr from USA who are ranked number two and number three on the Money List, respectively. Suzann Pettersen who belongs to Norway and Yani Tseng who is from Taiwan would also be taking part in the championship. In addition to Jiyai Shin there are other South Koreans as well who rank in top ten and would be there in Texas to try their luck. Na Yeon Choi and In-Kyung Kim have performed consistently well all along the year to be placed among the top and would give tough challenge to rest of the field.
LPGA Tour Championship presented by Rolex is going to bring the best out of the best among woman golf players, something that forms the essence of Rolex approach which underlies the efforts that Rolex makes in promoting various sporting events. The last event on the LPGA Tour is going to be the befitting finale to the highly competitive golfing year that 2009 has been.
